It’s kind of embarrassing that this is the year I’ve been a slacker, because I specifically picked to do little buttons with watch faces knowing that each would only take an hour or so! Oh well. Every September, our apple trees are ready to harvest! We only have three trees, a Johnathan, a Gala, and a Golden Delicious. This year, the spring and summer weather caused the trees to be ready to pick about three weeks ahead of the regular schedule, so instead of being in the middle of apple season this past weekend, we are already finished

June Bead Journal Project piece July Bead Journal Project piece Yay!! I am officially caught back up! Will I stay caught up? Dunno. June is a mix of matte and shiny beads, in a little softer color than July. I always associate blues and deep purples with the summer months, and this year June really was kind of soft, with summer slow to get started. But once July got here…bang! Since the watch face for July didn’t have any kind of frame that I could stitch down, I embedded it in a bottle cap. First I punctured two very small holes in the bottom of the cap and stitched it to the fabric backing. Then I added some two-part epoxy resin and the watch face. Hanging Jewelry Holder – Space Saver
I have mentioned before that the reason we moved to Colorado 2 months ago , was for my husband to complete several clinical rotations (for PA school) before graduating next spring. And lucky us, we were able to bum my parents basement apartment off of them while staying here. ( Thanks Mom and Dad! ) The basement has everything we need; bedrooms, a bathroom, a family room……even a kitchen. But overall, it’s a smaller space than what we had in GA So downsizing has been tricky. We can’t spread out as much. So we have meshed things together and have doubled up room purposes. Like, all of my craft stuff is in the family room. Eeek! And my husband’s school desk is in the kitchen. Another eek! But it works just fine and we are really grateful for our basement dwelling status right now. Haha. Anyway, lately, I have been having an all-out-fight with my jewelry.

TaDa! Jewelry Display Guest Highlight
This party Highlight is a little late but I love the idea, simple, elegant. Don’t you like it. Here is what Angel from TaDa! Creations has done in her master bedroom redo. I’ve had my eye on this frame at IKEA for a while now. And thanks to a gift card from a sweet friend, I was finally able to bring her home and… …turn her into a jewelry holder. Isn’t she purdy? I’ll show you what I did. It was easy-peasy. Find a frame you love and fabric that compliments your room. Now get yourself to Home Depot (or Lowes, I’m not picky) and buy the smallest package you can find of the smallest size chicken wire. It will be in the lawn and garden center, outside. This roll was about $5. Pick up some “S” hooks too. I only bought 1 pkg…I should have bought two. If you don’t already own one, buy a tin snips too. Or borrow one from your neighbor. Roll out the chicken wire (ahem…poultry netting) and try to flatten it the best you can. This is no easy task and I didn’t try really hard, so mine is still kind of lumpy.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in this morning at Meagher’s Jewelers in Summit Township. Deputies were called to the store, 2630 Kibby Road, for a burglary alarm. When they arrived, they found a broken window and evidence of forced entry, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office. Numerous display cases had been smashed and several items of jewelry had been taken, deputies reported. Sunday Shop Update: Painter’s Case to Jewelry Display
Ihope you’ve had a great weekend. As the craft fair draws nearer, I’ve shifted my focus from creating jewelry to creating displays. I want to share with you how I’ve outfitted B’s uncle’s painters case from the early 1960′s to a jewelry display. The rules for me using this sentimental item inluded no sanding, painting, drilling, decopauging, or doing anything that might permanently change the case. The case itself is beautiful, telling a story of a painter’s toolbox… I decided to cut fabric to fit the lining of the case and I adhered the fabric using a double sided hem tape which is more secure than normal double sided tape. This tape is also flexible enough to not rip into the wood. The cubby holes in the center are perfect for holding brooches, earrings, or hairpins. I’ll be spreading my items out among numerous vintage plates, but I definitely want to utilize this space. I’ll use the top portion of the painter’s case to hang some of my necklaces.
